Single Moms Are My Heroes

This shirt says it all right now. I don't want to complain, because I like to keep this blog a positive space, and I am blessed to have a lot of help from family and friends in my life. I will just say I'm tired though, and leave it at that. What I really want to say is that single moms are my heroes. For the past few months I've been living what I call "single wife life". Dan works out of town for the majority of each month, which means most of the time I am functioning as a working single parent. I say single wife instead of single mom because I obviously do have a spouse and I do have his help sometime, and a single mom is in an angel class all unto her own in my opinion.
I love the influx of articles I see online these days about the importance of being a mother, and how amazing mothers truly are. Read here, here, or here if you haven't been so lucky as to read one lately. It's a wonderful sisterhood I am proud to be a part of.
Lately though, single moms have been on my mind. Working and having a brand new baby are two full time jobs. My hero, the single mom, works both without respite. Long are the days and nights with middle of the night feedings and busy work days. Those work days are followed by feeding, baths, changing, cleaning, MAYBE some rest, repeat, work, repeat. It's emotionally and physically draining. Don't even get me started on when to fit in doing never ending laundry, or to get a workout in. I am lucky enough to get a break every few weeks, where I can tap Dan on the shoulder at 2am and he will change Eli's diaper in an instant. I'm not sure how I would cope without that respite. Single moms, you are my hero for continuing day after day when it's just so tiring. You are strong and amazing!
If I could give away naps like a prize, I would give them all to the single mama's out there. I know you need it. Thanks for being my hero. It helps me continue on each day.
